Part of the 'Heritage at risk across the Commonwealth' lecture series. This talk will cover a brief history of the Aerial Archaeology in the Middle East project, its aims, objectives and future. The main focus, however, will be on the threats and damage to the cultural heritage (mainly archaeological sites) in the region, with relevance to all Commonwealth countries, as recorded through remote sensing. It will examine the causes of those threats and explore possible solutions and mitigation strategies. It will highlight the need for partnerships, internationally, nationally and locally as well demonstrate commonalities of approach across the world. |
