A time of great innovation in the boom era of what became known as the 'industrial revolution'. The demand for materials, the expansion of scientific understanding and the population growth caused an increase in the construction of buildings to cater for every need. Brick was the chosen material of choice and its use and versatility is only limited by the imagination of the architect or builder. We will cover the transition period of the early 1700’s from timber-frame to brick and take it up to the end of the 1800’s when the manufacture of cement was finally derived into a commercial product on a global scale. |
