Join the Dorset Group for a webinar that will explore the care and repair of historic surface finishes. Historically, external renders were simply an aid to weatherproofing a building. From the 16th century they also became a vehicle for decoration and as a display of wealth. Internal plasters developed from a simple functional wall or ceiling finish to something quite decorative. The composition of these surface finishes also developed with the search for quicker setting materials that would facilitate more ornate decoration. In this webinar, the care and repair of these historic surface finishes will be considered together with a brief evaluation of current moves to use new additives in lime plasters and renders to provide better thermal efficiency. |
