| 11th Sep, 2025 Cressing Temple Barns, Essex |
|
This a rare opportunity to visit the brickyard of The Bulmer Brick and Tile Company, one of only a handful of surviving traditional brickworks in the country. On this tour, participants will be able to see how the bricks are made, including traditional methods of making, drying and firing in a coal-burning, down draught kiln. There will also be a discussion about the conservation and repair of historic rubbed and gauged brickwork, and the consideration that goes into deciding which of the 150+ types of brick to use for a particular job. |
