| 4th August, 2027 Cressing Temple Barns, Essex |
|
This day course is aimed at anybody interested in or involved with timber repairs. It explores historic carpentry, identifying defects, understanding when repairs are needed and how to approach them effectively. The first talk will cover identification and repair methods appropriate to heavy carpentry. Modern and historic methods and hand tools will be covered, along with specialist power tools that have been designed with heavy carpentry in mind. The second session will allow students the opportunity to see and handle examples of timbers and the tools best suited to repair them up close. There will also be a tour of the Grade I-listed, thirteenth-century timber-framed barns on site at Cressing Temple. |
