The National Trust’s “Discovery Houses programme” focused on improving visitor experience by looking holistically at light aspects and implementing bespoke lighting solutions for showcasing its interiors and displaying collections in 28 of the Trust’s most significant properties. As visitors often complained about low light levels in historic houses, the Trust’s project focused on developing lighting strategies to improve visitor access within the parameters of light level specifications for mixed collections. Dom Wierzbowski, National Conservator (Access & Lighting) for the National Trust will discuss the process and methodology of the lighting solutions and the collaboration with conservators and curators for several high-profile projects in creating high-quality lighting to improve visitor experience and emotional connections to interiors and collections. Date & Time: 11 NOVEMBER 2026, 18.30-20.00 GMT Cost: Early Careers - Free, ICON members - £5, Non-members - £10 |
