Steve Temple's lecture will cover materials used for restoring his own mill, Impington Mill, Cambridgeshire. Many of the materials which were traditionally used for mill work are now either difficult to obtain or extremely expensive and finding modern substitutes can be fraught with difficulty. The talk will be a personal account of what Steve has learnt to ban from use in restoring Impington Mill (and why) and what he has learnt to love in terms of materials. He has drawn on experience from millwrights and mill owners as well as from his own engineering background. |
