Cathedral Communications and Euromedia Associates Limited

Cathedral Communications is the heritage sector publishing arm of Euromedia Associates Limited. It was started in 1993 by Elizabeth Coyle-Camp, Gordon Sorensen (who sadly died in 2023) and Jonathan Taylor in response to the lack of information on products and services for the conservation of historic buildings. They launched the first edition of The Building Conservation Directory six months later to immediate acclaim. Since then the company has grown from strength to strength and now with Euromedia Associates it offers a full range of publishing services for heritage sector organisations and others.

Euromedia Associates is a family-owned company which has been established for 35 years. Following its acquisition of Cathedral's publications and website in January 2026, Euromedia will offer exactly the same services to the conservation sector as Cathedral Communications has in the past, but with a larger team backed up by broader resources.

The Euromedia team has been joined by Carla Winchcombe and Nick Rainsford from Cathedral. Jonathan Taylor, Cathedral’s director and executive editor, will also work with Euromedia on all heritage sector publications, not least as editor of The Building Conservation Directory, Historic Churches and the website www.buildingconservation.com. Sadly, we are saying goodbye to Lynn Green, Joanna Colly and Emma Heard. Xendo, the typesetting team responsible for the design of all Cathedral’s publications since its inception in 1993, is also stepping back.

All Cathedral’s good work is set to continue under the new ownership, ensuring the success of Cathedral’s publications and services in the long-term, and providing opportunities for the development of new heritage sector publications and digital resources in the future.

Although Cathedral Communications Limited will cease to operate as a company in early 2026, the name Cathedral Communications will live on as an imprint of Euromedia Associates, bringing together new and existing heritage sector publications, website and publishing services.

Contact details will also remain unchanged, as the Cathedral team will continue to work from the same office in Tisbury, Wiltshire for the foreseeable future. It’s business as usual.

Cathedral's in-house publications include:

  • The Building Conservation Directory
  • Historic Churches

Cathedral also publishes:

  • The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Client Guide
  • The Institute of Historic Building Conservation Yearbook
  • Context, journal of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation
  • Heritage Now magazine of Historic Buildings and Places (formerly the Ancient Monuments Society)

...and handles the advertising for other publications
